Florida TIPS Training

The FSEA is pleased to announce an upcoming offering of the Florida TIPS (training for intervention procedures) Alcohol Training & Certification Course. The Florida TIPS Alcohol Training – Responsible Vendor Act is Florida’s AB&T responsible vendor training and is a program offered to servers at bars and restaurants both paid and volunteer. Servers will learn the laws and policies regarding serving underaged guests and serving intoxicated patrons.

The Elks training course will be offered on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at the Orlando Marriott World Center and will be held in conjunction with the Florida Elk’s Officer Training Seminar.

  • The course will start at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 17, 2018 and will conclude that same day at 12:30 p.m.

  • The cost to attend the course is $39.00.

  • Hotel rooms are available through the FSEA for $150.29 per night. (see enrollment form attached)

  • A ticket for the Officer Training Seminar Continental Breakfast, Saturday morning at 7:00 a.m., is available for $21.00.

  • A ticket for the Officer Training Seminar Lunch (voucher for use at on-property venues), Saturday at 12:30 p.m. is available for $22.00.

  • A minimum of 10 participants will be necessary for the course to be held.

  • The course will be limited to a maximum of 30 participants.

  • The deadline to enroll for the course will be Friday, March 9, 2018 at 5:00 p.m.

  • The instructor for the course is Vincent Como, PSP,  Vincent is a Florida certified trainer for the TIPS Course.

  • Hotel self-parking is free for guests staying over Friday night.

  • Hotel self-parking for those driving in for the day is $22 however a 50% off voucher may be obtained from Dana Beatty. Dana will stop by the training course for this purpose.

Louisiana State Legislature Increases New Orleans Hotel Occupancy Tax

The Legislature of the State of Louisiana has acted to increase the New Orleans Hotel Occupancy Tax from 13% to 14.75% effective April 1, 2014. This will affect our convention room rates and they will go from $128.56 to $130.52 per night.

Convention Attendees With ADA Transportation Needs Urged To Contact Grand Lodge

In order for the Grand Lodge to support the transportation needs of attendees with disabilities you are urged to contact the Grand Lodge if you require special assistance. Special coaches capable of kneeling to accommodate wheel chairs will be placed along the routes for those in need.
