On March 12, Lakewood Ranch-Sarasota Elks Lodge #2855 hosted a reception for Americanism essay contest winners. Fourteen local schools participated and 12 students in grades 5-8 were awarded first, second and third place prizes. Members of the lodge were the essay judges. Attendees at the reception included students and their parents, teachers, school administrators and members. Eight of the 12 winners will move on to the state contest.
