The Florida State Elks Association, comprised of over 90 Lodges from the Florida Keys to the Panhandle, is proud to announce the Florida State Elks Association First Responder of the Year Award. It is our way of honoring the dedicated men and women who protect and serve our communities.
For over 150 years, the Elks have been proud to support our first responders. Although our Lodges are known for recognizing their bravery and valiant efforts by honoring them with dinners and awards, we also recognize them at the state level.
All law enforcement (police and sheriff), state certified firefighters of any rank below a Chief Officer, Paramedics/EMTs, and support service personnel (dispatch, corrections, etc.) are eligible for consideration. Awards will be presented in each of these four categories.
Agency nominees will be considered for actions taken above and beyond the call of duty such as, but not limited to, acts of bravery, superior investigative actions, undercover work, etc. Please keep in mind that although heroic deeds are most impressive, there are many other factors that will be taken into consideration such as community improvement, quality of life projects, and unexpected acts of kindness to assist others in the community, etc.
The winner and his/her family will be our guests for the weekend at our State Convention in May and will receive a $500.00 award and plaque commemorating this achievement.
