Lodge Bulletin Contest Criteria 2019‐2020

All Lodges are encouraged to enter the FSEA Lodge Bulletin Contest sponsored by the Florida State Elks Association Lodge Activities Committee. Judging will be based on design, timeliness, quality of articles and overall message portrayed.

The bulletin should:

  • Be easily readable, well organized, and informative.

  • Report on the activities of the Lodge, using pictures as well as commentary.

  • Include articles written for and directed to all members, not just lodge officers.

  • Stimulate Members to actively participate in the Lodge activities.

To enter the Lodge Bulletin Contest:

Choose and submit three (3) consecutive issues of your Lodge Bulletin published between April 1 and December 31, 2019. Bind them together in a folder (only the bulletins are judged, not the folder) and have your Lodge Secretary certify in writing the number of members in your Lodge as of March 31, 2019 the Certification Letter must be included in your folder so that your entry will be judged in the
appropriate division.

Judging will be based on:
a) Content: 0‐100 points
b) Layout & Typography: 0‐50 points
c) Pictorial: 0 ‐25 points
d) General: 0‐25 points

Awards will be Five, Four and Three Stars, mailed to the State President for presentation at the State
Convention in May.

The top three entries in each division will be brought to the State Convention for display at our FSEA Lodge Activities Booth in May 2019. Please stop by the booth and pick‐up your bulletin binders before departing Orlando. Winning Lodges of each division will be contacted upon completion of judging.

Louisiana State Legislature Increases New Orleans Hotel Occupancy Tax

The Legislature of the State of Louisiana has acted to increase the New Orleans Hotel Occupancy Tax from 13% to 14.75% effective April 1, 2014. This will affect our convention room rates and they will go from $128.56 to $130.52 per night.

Convention Attendees With ADA Transportation Needs Urged To Contact Grand Lodge

In order for the Grand Lodge to support the transportation needs of attendees with disabilities you are urged to contact the Grand Lodge if you require special assistance. Special coaches capable of kneeling to accommodate wheel chairs will be placed along the routes for those in need.
