Pam Snyder 2025-2026 FLOE President

Greetings eveyrone.

My name is Pam Snyder. I am originally from Reading, Massachusetts, just north of Boston. My husband and I moved to Punta Gorda with our two cats in 2009, and I am a member of Punta Gorda Lodge #2606. I am honored to serve as the 2025-2026 President of Florida Ladies of Elks. Building on the dedication of past leaders who expanded our membership and established new organizations, I look forward to working with FLOE officers, the advisory council and Ladies of Elks groups to make this year successful. I also look forward to traveling throughout Florida to connect with members statewide.

After my husband passed away, I became a Florida Elk — a decision that introduced me to new volunteer opportunities and an organization aligned with my values. Soon after, I joined the Punta Gorda Elkettes, served as President for a year and got involved with their local charitable work. Thanks to the group’s support and friendship, I am now writing this article as President of the Florida Ladies of Elks.

At 17, my perspective changed when my youngest sister became disabled. Her condition made me realize how disability affects families, so I became more supportive at home, more empathetic toward my parents and adjusted to our new family dynamic. After several years, I began volunteering at a center that serves teenagers with disabilities. Being only slightly older than most participants, I gained a deep appreciation for my own health and independence.

Later, as a married couple, Steve became involved with the Masons and Shriners, which led to further volunteer opportunities. Together, we actively participated in fundraising efforts and contributed our time at Springfield, Massachusetts Shriner’s Children — New England Hospital. The hospital provides transformative care, counseling and rehabilitation for children, supporting them in leading lives focused on their individual strengths and capabilities.

For my year as President of FLOE, I’ve chosen the pink flamingo to represent stability, balance, grace, devotion and a strong family bond. These characteristics reflect FLOE Past State President Pauline Talbott’s 2024-2025 motto, “We are family,” a theme present throughout the Florida Ladies of Elks membership.

The motto I chose is “Helping Children Spread their Wings.” I believe this can be achieved by encouraging a child’s individuality and creativity, bringing their imagination to life, and teaching them to stretch and balance.

FLOE is open to all women who are Elks, widows of Elks or spouses of Elks. Join us for the Friday morning Ladies activity — Game of Bunco — at the November midyear convention. It’s a fun way to connect, and you’ll enjoy participating.
