HURRICANE MILTON

Hurricane Milton Guest Packet

Packet contains room assignments, emergency contacts, campus map & more.

Greetings Guests at the FL Elks Youth Camp Hurricane Milton

This is a general message regarding your upcoming stay at the FL Elks Youth Camp as we ride-out Hurricane Milton. In addition to yourselves, we will also be providing shelter to members of our staff and their families, and we have about 125 athletes & coaches on campus from Eckerd College who lost power to their facilities during Hurricane Helene and who are using our facilities for their practices.

We are a secure facility and should not have any issues regarding safety, however due to the unpredictability of the storm, we will pray for the safety and security of our facilities and everyone seeking refuge within!

Address of FL Elks Youth Camp
The FL Elks Youth Camp is located at 24175 SE Highway 450, Umatilla, FL 32784. Most GPS applications have no problem finding us. Upon your arrival the gates will probably be open. Should they be closed use the call box and enter 3557. If you encounter problems, there is a function that will allow you to telephone someone from the call box. Please do not call an employee, they will not be able to open the gate.

Upon Arrival at the FL Elks Youth Camp
At the end of this text there is a link for you to click on that will take you to a map of the property and your room assignment. Once you arrive on property you may drive directly to the parking area for your room assignment. Your cabin/room will be unlocked and the keys inside. Upon departing the camp, please leave your keys in your cabin/room.

Parking
SCC Rooms 1-32 are in our Smith Conference Center. You may park anywhere in the grass parking area.

Cabins 27-52 – You may drive near the cabin area but not inside the cabin area to unload. Once unloaded please park in the field area near the Warburton Ropes Course.

Cabins 1-26 – You may drive near the cabin area but not inside the cabin area to unload. Once unloaded please park in the grass parking area.

Room Supplies
Guests residing in rooms SCC 1 to SCC 32 or Executive Cabins 53-67 have furnished accommodations which include a television, a refrigerator, a microwave, and all bedding. These rooms are like a standard hotel room. Some rooms have ice makers and for those that don’t, there is an ice machine in the Smith Conference Center just outside of the entrance to Hall C.

Guests residing in Oaks or Palms Camper Cabins 1 to 26 and 27 to 52, these are our standard camper cabins and do not come with any bedding or appliances. Pretty much these cabins have beds and a bathroom. You would need to bring all bedding including pillows, maybe some folding chairs for sitting, and all personal toiletries.

Power
The Grafton Center offices and arena and the guest rooms in the Smith Conference Center are the only areas backed-up by generator. Our generators also power our kitchen and walk-in coolers. The camper cabins and executive cabins will not have backup power when and if we lose electricity. We will keep the ballroom in the Smith Center open 24-7 to allow everyone a place to gather and socialize. This is also where we will be serving our meals. Our water and sewer systems are also backed up by generators so we should not experience any issues with these resources.

Meals As the weather permits, we will be serving basic meals from our Smith Center kitchen. We will serve in the Smith Center Ballroom and will only serve lunch and dinner. The schedule is below:

Tuesday Dinner – Athletes 5p – All Else 6:15p
Wednesday Lunch – Athletes 12:30p – All Else 1:15p
Wednesday Dinner – Athletes 5:15p – All Else 6p
Thursday Lunch – Athletes 12:30p – All Else 1:15p
Thursday Dinner – Athletes 5p – All Else 6:15p
Friday Lunch – Athletes 12:30p – All Else 1:15p

Storm Expectancy
As of this writing 1p on Monday, it looks like everyone should probably be sheltered on Wednesday by 7p. Estimates are that the peak of the storm will take place overnight and we expect much of the storm should be over by 7a. Please use caution when walking or driving on property before, during, and after the storm.

Dollar Store
There is a Dollar Store just out the back gate on Highway 42 then right. It is about a mile down on your right. Depending on their operating hours that is the closest resource for food and supplies.

Emergencies
In addition to a map of the property and room assignments, in the link at the end of this message there is also information about EMS and local hospitals.
Should you have a medical emergency while at our camp first call 911 then call our Camp Director, Nick Miller. His number is (352) 602-0441. Nick can assist with directing EMS once on property and may be able to render further assistance.

Pets
Please do your best to clean up after your pets. Should your pet have an accident in the room/cabin we would rather know about it so we can manage the follow up. We are all pet lovers and want only the best for our fur babies, so we do allow pets in our accommodations at times like these. Please allow us to offer our next guest as clean of a room as you received upon your arrival. Text Nick at (352) 602-0441. Thank you!

Florida Elks Youth Camp
We are pleased that we can provide shelter at this time when many of our citizens are in danger. The Florida Elks Youth Camp is a non-profit organization, and we offer a safe residential camping experience to over 10,000 children each year. The income we receive from our community service-related activities is returned to our programs in the form of camperships to offset the cost for children to attend our summer camp each year.
If you are inclined to donate, please make your check payable to Florida Elks Youth Camp, Inc. and mail it to P.O. Box 49, Umatilla, FL 32784-0049. Or you may leave it in your room.

As a general guideline we use $8 per person for meals and $40 per room per night.

We thank you for your consideration!
