Between April 8 and April 12, Pompano Beach Elks Lodge #1898 presented Elks JROTC awards to Cadet First Sergeant Philip Blaise of Western High Schools Wildcat Battalion, Cadet Commander Emmanuel Cole of Fort Lauderdale High Schools Flying L Battalion, and Cadet First Sergeant Shannon Brown of Coral Glades High Schools Jaguar Battalion. Broward County Public Schools operates the largest JROTC program in the nation, with more than 6,000 cadets in 32 JROTC battalions. More awards were presented throughout the following four weeks to the remaining participating schools.
